Adam combines extensive experience in yacht services with technical knowledge gained from his professional qualifications.
History
Adam started at Praxis (formerly Sarnia Yachts) in early 2014, quickly becoming a vital member of the team. Since then, Adam has worked in most areas of the yacht services business and has gained a wide knowledge of its service offering. These days, Adam’s primary focus is on crew management and yacht compliance.
During this time Adam has also completed a Diploma in Superyacht Management and has undertaken a number of MLC audits all of which have been passed with zero observations or deficiencies.
Prior to his time at Praxis, Adam had a varied employment history including construction, IT sales, yacht guardianage and surf instructor/beach lifeguard.
Roles and responsibilities
Adam’s current role encompasses two main areas: crew management and yacht compliance. These responsibilities include undertaking the day-to-day administration of crew employment and payroll, supporting the crew team with more complex or technical issues, safe manning compliance, and maintaining and updating crew documentation, such as crew employment agreements, handbooks, and procedures. The yacht compliance aspect includes handling yacht registrations, radio licences, and other yacht certifications, monitoring certification for compliance and arranging renewals.
In addition to his day-to-day responsibilities, Adam leads the annual MLC (Maritime Labour Convention) audit. He also undertakes a number of ad hoc projects to ensure the crew team remains up-to-date and in compliance with a rapidly evolving industry.
About me
"Outside of work, I can be found enjoying the coastline of Guernsey (both in and out of the water) with my dog, or, weather permitting, enjoying the fruits of my labour from a recent classic car restoration."
